Sunshine Drugs team supporting United Way Period Promise event, embodying The Sunshine Way philosophy.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

[WINDSOR – ESSEX / CHATHAM – KENT, ON] – [March 20, 2026] – Sunshine Drugs, a community pharmacy built on the principle of genuine connection and unwavering patient advocacy, proudly announces its impactful partnership with the United Way Windsor-Essex/Chatham Kent for the recent Period Promise campaign. This collaboration powerfully demonstrates “The Sunshine Way,” our unique approach that extends beyond the pharmacy counter to proactively solve tangible community needs and foster a profound sense of relationship and certainty.

Many within our community face silent struggles, needing essential items like period products. This can leave individuals feeling unsupported and overlooked by systems that don’t always fully see their needs. At Sunshine Drugs, we believe true healthcare means actively engaging these vital community issues, ensuring every individual feels valued and cared for, and that their needs are met with clarity and direct support, not just left to uncertainty.

“Our involvement with the Period Promise campaign goes right to the heart of what ‘The Sunshine Way’ is all about: being an integral, accessible part of our community’s support system,” stated Frank Murgic, Owner, Sunshine Drugs. “It’s about providing clarity, certainty, and hope, not just for our patients, but for everyone in our community. Our team was deeply moved, not just by the need, but by the tangible support we could provide, directly addressing frustrations and ensuring essential items are accessible. This is ‘The Sunshine Way’ in action: fostering connection and demonstrating that ‘we’ve got your back’.”

The Period Promise campaign achieved significant community-wide success, made possible by the collective efforts of many generous partners and individuals, resulting in:

  • Over $23,000 being raised to combat period poverty.
  • 2,844 packages of menstrual products collected, providing essential relief to those in need.

Sunshine Drugs embraced its role as a key Community Partner by making a direct donation of $2,500 and by establishing convenient donation stations at all Sunshine Drugs locations. This made it simple for our valued customers and community members to contribute, fostering a wider ‘chain of community’ where everyone could play a part in uplifting their neighbours.

This partnership powerfully illustrates our commitment to empowering healthy living with expert guidance and personalized care. It proves that “we’ve got your back,” not just in personalized health plans and potentially even deprescribing to get you off meds and enjoying life, but also in supporting the foundational well-being of our entire community by delivering direct, impactful aid.

You Can Still Help!
